How to Locate Restaurant Discounts and a Review of
Discounts at National Restaurant Chains
Date: November 22, 2006
Author: David Smidt, SeniorDiscounts.com
One of the most common places to find age related discounts
is at national and local restaurants. While these discounts are readily available,
most restaurants do not advertise their discounts and thus the discounts must often
be requested.
These discounts can come in a variety of different forms. Most
common is a standard percentage, typically 10%, discounted from the price of the
meal. Others may provide a free coffee or beverage with the purchase of an entrée
or a “senior menu” with smaller portions and lower prices. Also
look for 2 for 1
specials, as many places will extend the discount to companions of any age.
Age requirements will vary from location to location. Most large
national chains will have an age requirement of 50 to 55, but most of these chains
will usually extend the discount to people who simply know to ask for it. Local
restaurants on the other hand will tend to have higher age requirements, perhaps
60 or 65 years of age and may require some type of identification. They will tend
to have larger discounts.
While many restaurant chains offer a discount, they are often
franchised and therefore each location may have a different owner. This can cause
some discrepancies among the senior discounts provided. Restaurant chains may not
require that the franchisees provide a specific senior discount or any senior discount
for that matter. You will find however, that there is some continuity among senior
discounts at particular chains.
Here are some of the national companies that provide senior
discounts at some or all of their locations. SeniorDiscounts lists many more of
these and tens of thousands of local restaurants throughout the US.
