Web in general.
HELP WITH SENIORDISCOUNTS.COM
1. Do I have to join or buy anything to find out about the discounts, get the newsletter
or enter the contests?
No, the service is completely, 100% FREE. You can search for businesses that
offer discounts for people over 50, all for FREE. You can also subscribe to our
FREE newsletter and enter our contests for FREE.
2. What is the SeniorDiscounts Card?
The SeniorDiscounts Card program provides exclusive member discounts on products
and services available to people aged 55 years and over. For more information, visit
the SeniorDiscounts Card web site,
3. What is Home and how do I get there?
Home is simply short for home page. This is typically the first page you
see when you go on a web site. It should contain all the options available
for the function of the site. It is similar to the title page of a book. On SeniorDiscounts.com,
you can get back to home in several ways;
- clicking directly on our logo in the upper right-hand corner on every page.
- clicking the word, home, on the left-hand border.
This is a page designed specifically to tell us about any discounts you may know
that we do not have listed on our site. By filling in the information on this
page and having it reviewed by our staff, you will be entered in our
Contest. All discounts will take up to one week to appear on the site so that
we may verify and assure all information is correct.
5. How do I get from one page to another?
On the left and bottom of every page there are words that represent all the pages
on SeniorDiscounts.com. You can click on any of these options and it will take you
to the corresponding page.
6. How do I contact SeniorDiscounts.com to get help or information?
You can reach us by going to our Contact Us page, or e-mail us at
[email protected].
7. I would like to make SeniorDiscounts.com easier to access, how can I do that?
There is a feature called a “bookmark” (Netscape) or a “favorite” (Internet Explorer).
You can add seniordiscounts.com to this feature and then you will be able to simply
chose it from a menu so you do not have to type in the web site address every time.
This option varies by browser, you may have to go to your browser’s help option
if you are having trouble. In order to find out which browser you have, look
in the far upper left corner of your screen when you are connected to the Internet.
If you see a little blue “e”, you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer
as your browser. If you see a little ship steering wheel (helm), you are using Netscape
Navigator.
DISCOUNTS
1. Can I make reservations for restaurants, hotels, etc. on SeniorDiscounts.com?
At this time, no. Think of us as a large directory of discounts for people over
50. We offer you all the information necessary to contact the business, find out
its exact location, what discount it offers and its web site address, if available.
2. Why is the zip code optional?
Our search abilities are advanced enough that if you do not know the zip code
we will still be able to locate your search. If there are no discounts in the zip
code that you searched for, our search engine will show you discounts that are closest
to that area. If no zip code is selected, the city chosen and its surrounding
areas will show in the Discount Results. It also becomes useful in large cities
where you would like a more specific search result than just the city name.
3. How do I choose a state from the scrolling menu?
The easiest way to use the scroll menu is to click on any state name once and then
use your arrow up and down keys to select your state. Just remember, your state
must be highlighted to be considered chosen.
4. After reaching the search results, where do I get more information about the
business?
Since all the business names are underlined, they are “links” and you can simply
click on the business name and it will take you to that business’ “details page.”
Here you will find the business’ address, phone number, web site address (if available),
map of location, and all discount information.
Click on the underlined name of the business and it will take you to the details
page for that specific business. There, in the information area, click on the underlined
word, maps (in the upper right corner).
6. Can I search for a specific business name and see if they have a discount?
At this time, that option is not yet available. If you know any location information,
however, you will be able to find it through a search.
7. If there is no address information listed under a business, how do I get more
information?
These are businesses with more than one location in the area in which you searched.
Therefore, you must click on the underlined business and it will take you to a more
detailed list. To get even more detailed information about a specific location,
click again on the underlined name.
8. How do I look at more pages of results?
At the top and bottom of the information area on the results pages will be the underlined
phrase, next page of results. Click on this to view more results for the
category in which you searched.
9. How do I go back to results I have already seen?
At the top and bottom of the information area on the results pages will be the underlined
phrase, previous page of
results. Click on this to view the pages of results that you have already seen.

of the web site.
to the newsletter. How do I find out more about security?

page.
3. I would like to see a full-sized sample of the newsletter, can I do that?
Yes! Visit our newsletter page, there you will be able to see a sample of the newsletter.
4. I would like to unsubscribe to the newsletter. How do I do this?
There is a link at the bottom of every newsletter that allows you to unsubscribe.
Or, reply to any of the newsletters you received by e-mail and type “unsubscribe”
in the subject box. Or, send an e-mail to

GENERAL WEB SITE HELP
1. Why are certain words underlined on the page and why do they change colors when
I “click” them?
These are known as links. When you click on any underlined and sometimes colored
word or words, it “links” you to the corresponding page. For example, if you click
the underlined word, home, it would take you to the seniordiscounts.com home
page. After you have clicked on a “link”, gone to the corresponding page and then
returned to the original page, the computer “reminds” you that you have already
clicked that link by changing its color. Therefore, if you have already been
to the About Us page, the underlined About
Us words will be a different color than the words or phrases you have not clicked.
2. Do I need to “double click” on the words (links) to go to another page?
“Double clicking” means you rapidly press the left button on your mouse twice. Often,
this is not necessary when using the web. There are no areas on SeniorDiscounts.com
where you need to double click and oftentimes it makes things simpler just to click
once.
3. When there is a long list I must choose from (such as states), and I can only
see a few of them, how do I move down the list and choose one?
These lists are called “Drop Down Menus”. Once you have clicked inside the
menu area, you can either use your keyboard arrow keys or use your mouse to move
the scroll bar on the right border of the scroll box to move up and down the menu.
Once you see your choice, you simply need to click on the word or words to “highlight”
them and thus make your selection. Typically, you can only choose one option from
the list. Below is an example of what a typical drop down menu looks like:
