Sporting Event Discounts
Date: April 21, 2006
Author: David Smidt, SeniorDiscounts.com

Sporting events are a great way to enjoy the wonderful weather most of us find in the spring time and they are another one of the many places you may be able to locate senior discounts.

While the major US sports; baseball, basketball, football, golf and hockey, do have some senior discounts, one can also find discounts at other events, like soccer, tennis, rodeo or track among others.

Typically, senior discounts are difficult to find for the professional events like football, hockey and golf, but baseball and basketball will many times provide senior discount days. These discount days can be found on the team's or stadium's web site or by calling the stadium's main office.

Minor league and city teams and college and high school sports are one of the best places to locate senior discounts. These events may provide discounts for every game or for a particular event. Other sports like soccer, swimming, rodeo, track and tennis will also likely have senior discounts available.

If you plan on attending a major tournament, chances are you will not be able to locate a discount. The demand for these events is typically too great to allow for discounts, senior or otherwise. Look for discounts during the regular season on weekdays when the events are looking to fill their seats.

The age requirements for these discounts will vary on the event. The most common age requirement is 60 years of age, but keep an eye out; there are discounts out there that begin at age 50 or 55. You can expect to save anywhere form 10% to 20% on the price of admission, but for those events that have senior days the savings can be substantially more, sometimes 50% to 75%.

Don't forget about the children and grandchildren. There is nothing like taking a young person to see a sporting event and they usually can receive a discount as well. Many different sporting events offer child rates and some ballparks even have grandparent days with discounts on admission and food for both you and your younger companion.

We have some sport discounts located on our web site in the Sports and Recreation category, but for those events that occur periodically throughout the year, like rodeos, tennis matches and college sports, you may want to try looking at the events web site for the senior discounts and admission rates.
