Rite Aid Discount Program

Rite Aid, the US-based drugstore chain with more than 3,350 stores in 28 states, has just expanded its free senior loyalty program, Living More.

Living More was established by Rite Aide in March of 2005 to help seniors save money on prescription drugs and other items in its stores. Living More members formerly received 10% off prescription drugs purchased with cash. Additional benefits also included discounts on select products on certain days of the week, as well as unadvertised sales on merchandise.

Rite Aid has now included even more discounts and opportunities for members of the Living More program to save money. Living More members still receive 10% off cash purchases of prescription drugs and discounts on certain items in the store, but members will now find discounts available more often. Living More members can save 10% on all Rite Aide products and all hearing aid batteries every day. Members will also receive 10% off most other products throughout the store every Tuesday and Rite Aid has unadvertised monthly specials throughout its stores.

Living More members also have access to a quarterly online Living More newsletter, which includes articles that address personal areas of interest based on their purchases, or, if requested, a customized version of the newsletter containing coupons and articles mailed to their homes.

Customers 60 and older are invited to join and there are no membership fees. Currently, seniors can not join online and must visit a local store to fill out membership form. Senior customers are asked if they would like to enroll in the free program when they make a pharmacy visit. If a customer wants to participate, they are automatically enrolled and receive a membership card and brochure explaining the benefits of the program.

For more information and to visit the Rite Aid web site, click here. You can also search for Rite Aid locations on our web site, click here.

Due to state law, seniors must be 62 years of age or older to enroll in the program in New Jersey and the cash prescription discount is not offered in California due to the state mandated discount program for senior patients. Also, the 10% savings does not apply to sale-priced items and excludes prescription co-payments, cigarettes, alcohol, gift certificates, lottery tickets, licenses, money orders, money transfers, pre-paid cards, stamps, other mailing services.

Halloween Facts

The ancient Celts thought that spirits and ghosts roamed the countryside on Halloween night. They began wearing masks and costumes to avoid being recognized as human.

The biggest pumpkin in the world tipped the scales at a whopping 1,446 pounds. This gigantic gourd was weighed in October 2004 at a pumpkin festival in Port Elgin, Ontario, Canada.

Of all canned fruits and vegetables, pumpkin is the best source of vitamin A. Just a half-cup of the orange stuff has more than three times the recommended daily requirement.

Halloween is the 2nd most commercially successful holiday, with Christmas being the first.

Bobbing for apples is thought to have originated from the roman harvest festival that honors Pamona, the goddess of fruit trees.
