Airline Discounts Part 2

In our last newsletter, we discussed how to search for senior discounts when booking a flight and how to locate the best available price. This week we have provided a list of senior discounts offered by various carriers that operate to and from the US. For a complete listing of these discounts, the airline's contact information and restrictions, visit the SeniorDiscounts web site and search for airlines. Click here.

Air Jamaica (60+)
When available, senior fares are 10 percent lower than adult fares and a senior discount is also available to the senior's traveling companion, 18 years and older. The senior and companion passengers must travel together. Special promotional fares may be excluded from this offer.

ATA Airlines (65+)
ATA offers senior discounted fares on select markets and dates. Fares lower than the senior fares may be available, but ATA reservations associates will ensure the customer gets the lowest fare.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air (65+)
At times, Alaska Air may offer senior fares in some markets to seniors. The senior fares are not available on the Alaska Air's web site. One must call the reservations line for further information.

American Airlines/American Eagle (65+)
American Airlines, American Eagle and AmericanConnection offer senior fares in some domestic markets. For further information, please call American Airlines reservations.

Austrian Airlines (62+)
Austrian Airlines provides senior discounts on select flights. Discount amount and availability depend on time of travel and booking. One must book by calling the reservations department.

Cathay Pacific Airlines (55+)
Cathay Pacific provides Worry Free Fares that are specially priced for travelers 55 and older and their traveling companions. These fares provide the flexibility to change travel dates at any time free of charge and they guarantee a 100% refund should you decide to cancel prior to departure. Some restrictions apply.

Continental Airlines (65+)
Continental offers senior fares to select travel destinations. For more details and to make a reservation contact the reservations department. One can also book online by selecting the seniors (age 65 and older) category. Seniors and their spouses can also purchase lifetime memberships to the Continental Presidents Club at discounted rates and with no initiation fees (normally $50).

Delta (62+)
Delta Shuttle offers senior fares on some of its East Coast routes. The amount of the discount varies. Senior rates are available any time Saturday and Sunday, and from 10:30AM to 2:30PM or from 7:30PM to 9:30PM during the week. No advance reservations are required. To book senior fares with Delta Shuttle, you must call their toll free number 800-221-1212 and advise the agent that your are requesting rates with the senior fare.

Hawaiian Air (60+)
Hawaiian Airlines offers senior fares through its reservations department. The senior discount can be up to 10% off select published fares. Web fares are sometimes lower than senior fares and senior discounts may not be applied to web fares.

Lufthansa Airlines (62+)
Lufthansa offers discounts on select flights. The discount amount and availability depend on time of flights and booking. The senior discount is not available online and must be booked through the Lufthansa reservations office.

Southwest Airlines (65+)
Southwest Airlines offers special Senior Fares. Travelers 65 years of age or over may obtain details on fares, limitations, and any restrictions from a Southwest Airlines Reservations Sales Agent or a travel agent. Fares are subject to change until tickets are purchased, but Senior Fare tickets are fully refundable. The maximum ticket price is typically $129 plus tax each way.

United Airlines (55+)
Join United's Silver Wings Plus program starting from $25 per year with access to discounted air fares starting at $169 for round trip flights. For more information, visit the web site or call the toll free number.

US Airways (65+)
In select markets, special fares may be available for seniors. If the flight itinerary qualifies for a senior discount, the senior discount will be applied automatically to the displayed fare price.

Virgin Atlantic (60+)
Virgin Atlantic can't process a senior discount online at this time but some discounts may be available on certain routes and fare types. One must contact the reservation department by phone.
