Senior Special Section: For the last two weeks we have analyzed the discounts offered by many of the hotel chains located in the United States. We have a couple more to share with you this week.

Jerome, from Sheboygan, WI, tells us that City Bakery offers a 10% discount on Wednesdays to people 62 and older. Must ask for the discount.

Dick, from Belton, MO, tells us that Back Yard Burgers provides a 10% discount on food orders. Age requirement not specified.

Lola of Boise, ID, informs us that Chuck-a-Rama Buffet provides a 10% discount to seniors 62 and older.

Hotel Discounts Part 3

For the last two weeks, we have looked at senior discounts offered by various hotels, including the Choice Hotels discount for our SeniorDiscounts Card members. To see the last two week's newsletters and the hotels we reviewed, visit our newsletter archive page on the web site, click here. This week we will continue with some other lodging deals exclusively for seniors.

Cendant is one of the world's largest franchisors of hotels with eight brands; Amerihost Inn, Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Ramada, Super 8, Travelodge and Wingate Inn under its name. All of these hotels offer types of discounts for seniors. Amerihost Inn has a 50+ Program. Guests 50 years of age and older will receive a 10% discount off the rack rate, while AARP members are eligible for a 15% discount. Days Inn offers 10% off standard rates to people 60 and older with proper identification. Howard Johnson will give AARP members 20% off. Knights Inn offers 15% off standard rack rates to seniors with valid proof of membership in any Senior Citizen organization. Ramada provides a 20% discount to AARP members. At Super 8 motels, AARP members will save 10% off. Guests 50 years of age and older are eligible for a 10% discount at Travelodge, while AARP or CARP members will receive 15% off the regular room rate. Finally, Wingate Inn hotels offer 15% off standard rack rates to seniors 60 and older or a member of a senior organization.

Wyndham Hotels offers members of AARP a savings of up to 35%-40% off at participating Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Hilton Hotels
Hilton Hotels and their affiliates; Conrad Hotels, Coral, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites and Scandic Hotels all offer the Senior HHonors program. Besides some discounted hotel rates, there are some other benefits offered through the program: Free membership for a spouse, ability to reserve a second room for family and friends at the same discounted rate when they stay the same dates as you, dedicated Senior HHonors reservation service, access to special seasonal and regional travel offers at selected hotels, expedited Check-In and free morning newspaper. You can also receive discounts on other services, such as food, travel and other products.

ElderCarelink provides free helpful information an array of elder care service providers varying from Financial Planning and Personal Emergency Response to Home Care and Assisted Living Facilities.   STS Tire and Auto Center have a Silver Club for seniors 55 years of age and older. Members receive a 5% discount on all tires, services and accessories, including those on sale. Membership is free.

  Budget offers exclusive discounts to our SeniorDiscounts Card Members. Currently Budget is offering Compact rentals for $27.99 per day.

  Great Clips
  Many Great Clips locations offer a $1 to $3 discount depending on the location. The typical age requirement is 65 years of age or older, but the age may be lower at some locations. Contact your local Great Clips to see if they offer a discount.

  BI-LO Grocery Stores
  Every Wednesday, BI-LO offer seniors 60 and older an extra 5% off on their purchase when using the Senior Bonuscard. Apply for the Card at a local store.

  TGI Fridays
  SeniorDiscounts has found that many TGI Fridays' locations offer a 10% discount. The age requirement varies, so call ahead to make sure you qualify. Not all locations may participate.

If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.

Don't cry because it's over: smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons: some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all have to learn to live in the same box.

Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Once over the hill, you pick up speed.

Whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

We cannot change the direction of the wind... but we can adjust our sails.
