Easter Savings

If you haven't purchased Easter supplies yet, here are some discounts that can help you save some money.

Last year we mentioned that Rite Aid, the US-based drugstore chain with more than 3,350 stores, had just expanded its free senior loyalty program, Living More. Now Longs Drug Stores is following suit with its Longs Senior Advantage program.

While both of these programs focus on lower cost prescriptions for the senior population, they both have discounts on other products within their stores.

Members of Rite Aid's Living More program receive 10% off cash purchases of prescription drugs and additional discounts on certain items in the store. These additional discounts include 10% on all Rite Aide products and all hearing aid batteries every day and 10% off most other products throughout the store every Tuesday. Rite Aid also has unadvertised monthly specials throughout its stores for Living More members.

The Longs Senior Advantage program provides its members with discounts of up to 50% on cash purchases of prescriptions. Members also receive 10% off all Hallmark products, 10% off all Longs Brand products and 10% off Longs One Hour Photo Processing.

Both of these programs are free to join. Currently, seniors cannot join the Rite Aid program online and must visit a local store to fill out a membership form. Longs Drugs does provide an online form on its web site, but customers can also register at a local store.
The age requirement for the Rite Aid Living More programs is 60 years of age and older, while the Longs Senior Advantage program is 60 years and older in California and Hawaii and 55 years of and older in all other states.
Both programs also include newsletters with articles and updates for their members as well as prescription refill reminders.
